More Questions?

Where are you located?

We are located in Brevard, in the mountains of Western North Carolina. Brevard is a quaint town 40 minutes south of Asheville, NC. Brevard is the gateway to Pisgah National Forest and 15 miles from DuPont State Forest. Both of these forests offer hiking trails, countless waterfalls and extensive outdoor activities. We are within walking distance to the heart of Brevard, which has numerous cute shops & restaurants.

What does a typical day look like and how is Tapestry unique?

Check our Sample Daily Schedule to see a typical day. We are unique because we are community based, voluntary with no locked cabinets or doors and we personalize your treatment. We also cost up to 50% less than other residential programs. View our location on this Google map.

How many staff members do you have, and what do they do?

We have a full time program director, clinical director and admissions coordinator with two other full time psychotherapists. We also employ a full time activities coordinator and residential counselor. In addition Tapestry contracts with a part-time dietician, a medical director, an art therapist, additional specialized therapists, massage therapists and an equine assisted program therapist. See the "Meet Our Staff" page to learn more about our family.

Do I have to meet with a psychiatrist?

Yes — you will meet with our Medical Director, Dr. Bierrenbach, within a week of entering the program for an assessment regarding possible psychopharmacological needs. Dr. Ricardo Bierrenbach, MD has been with Tapestry since 2007.

How do I pay for Tapestry?

Payment is by Check, Money Order, VISA, Master Card, American Express or Discover. Payment is made upon acceptance into the program. We can arrange single case agreements with certain insurance companies for you to be reimbursed later and will assist with filing insurance. HOWEVER, we can not guarantee reimbursement from your insurance carrier.

Do you have a step down program?

Yes, we do. We have a cottage in the back of Tapestry that residents may move into when they are ready for a less intensive level of treatment. This allows residents to practice their skills and still have the support of Tapestry as a touchstone prior to moving home.
